Cupping Therapy
Cupping technique is especially useful in treatment problem of local Qi and blood stagnation in the meridians; it is used either as a supplement or a combined treatment with acupuncture.
Cupping can also be very helpful in expelling the pathogenic factor of wind/cold that can invade the lungs, causing common cold, coughing, running-nose etc.
Cupping is an ancient technique that is still used by modern practitioners due to its simplicity, effectiveness and time-tested results. It is usually used over larger and flashy areas because cupping creates a strong vacuum demanding a relatively flat and smooth area. A cupping cup is usually made of thick and strong glass of different sizes; it is usually named as “suction cup”. The vacuum is created by burning for very short period of time inside the cup, before the cup is immediately pressed against the selected area. Today, most practitioners use surgical alcohol for burning process. There are other mechanical suction cups made of plastic also available; but professional practitioner, like Dr Peter Yea still prefer to the glass cup and the burning technique.llness like arthritis, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, lower back-pain can all be treated with cupping technique.
