ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is an important component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

It becomes more and more acceptable and popular world wide because acupuncture has been repeatedly proved to be applicable to a wide range of indications; it’s simple, low-cost, effective and safe. The World Health Organization (WHO) has been taking great effort to promote the science of acupuncture for the past twenty- five years. WHO has also endorsed more than 60 diseases can be treated by acupuncture with satisfactory results?

“In the year of 2004, US study finds that patients who got acupuncture had a significant increase in function and reduction of pain, compared to the other two groups. ………Acupuncture aids arthritis in knee …….

Dr. Stephen Straus said “acupuncture reduces the pain and functional impairment of osteoarthritis of the knee. More than 20 million Americans have osteoarthritis.”

A complete TCM diagnosis is a MUST before treatment, otherwise the acupuncture

doctor has no direction/guidance for has/her treatment. A formula of acupuncture, consisted of meridians and acpu-points for each physical problem, must be carefully

selected based on TCM theories. Practitioners of acupuncture without sufficient

education and training in TCM do not know how to form an acupuncture formula for his/her patient.

There are 12 major channels connecting 12 related organs. These meridians run along arms and legs, therefore all internal diereses can be treated by inserting acupuncture needles on arms and legs only; if patients do not feel comfortable about having needles put on the trunk. Those patients who had never had acupuncture might feel “afraid” but really, there is no need to feel that way, as there will be practically No PAIN but just some needle sensation, like tingling or heaviness.

Feeling the sensation is normal and, as a matter of facts, this sensation is one way to tell that the needles are working. An ordinary session of acupuncture needs ½ hour

In some cases might need longer time. The right hand rule is that the more physical complain the patient has the more needle and time is required.
